Well, preferably at school – there to meet with Ms. MacSchreier, in whose lessons the V-Kurs has spent the past few weeks engaging with Shakespeare’s famous play Macbeth.
To conclude the unit, Justin Kurzel’s 2015 film adaptation (an adaptation that stays very close to the original in terms of language and costume design) was discussed in class. All the more exciting, then, was the opportunity to experience a modern variation of the material in the stage production by the Theater am Frankfurter Tor.
The final verdict, however, was mixed: while some would have preferred a stage set and costumes from bygone times, others particularly appreciated the modern, minimalist approach. One point, however, everyone agreed on: the performance of Lady Macbeth was outstanding and carried the entire play!
